Advisor Program
Upon being accepted to Dunn, each student is matched with a faculty member to act as his or her advisor. Every effort is made to match students to an advisor who shares common interests, background and beliefs among other things. Each Dunn faculty member is an advisor to between 4 and 7 students. The advisor seeks to remain current with the daily events of the advisee's life throughout the academic year. They do so through frequent contact, formally and informally over meals, on the athletics field, in between classes and on weekends. The advisor seeks to monitor the student's progress in all areas academic and non-academic. A student's advisor will be involved in any significant discussions about the student or decision made at
Regular communication between the advisor and parents occurs throughout the academic year. The student's advisor will contact the advisee's parents within the first week of school to provide a personal introduction, home phone number, and a review of the advisor's preliminary interview with the child. Periodically throughout the year, the advisor will write comments to the parents, and if there is any significant change in the advisee's performance, his or her parents are contacted immediately. Parents should utilize their child's advisor as the first contact for issues related to their child or to ask any questions they may have concerning the school.
